Software Portal always asks for credentials

I need a solution

Hi guys, 

since today when a user opens Software Portal by right click to Symantec Management Agent it opens, but asks for credentials.

When you type in credentials, it ask for it again.

So we cannot open Software portal.

I did nothing change on the server.

Do you have any idea?

I need a solution

I obtained the flash player 16.0.0.235 through the APSB14-27 Bulletin. I am in a testing phase with four test computers, two of the tests have flash player ax/pi 12.0.0.3, the other two have 15.0.0.183. The new bulletin will not get applied against either of my test computers in the software update tab of the agent. So far I explored to the server and tried to install flash player 16 ax and pi from where patch mgt. places the files on the server. My result is "please uninstall flash player". This is normally what does not happen going to newer version of flash player, the new version always remove the old first then installs the current version. Am I trying out 16.0.0.183 too soon, or is Adobe creating a different route of their newer versions of flash player?

"the selected client packages is incompatible with one or more computers in the list that have 32 bit platform.you need to remove them from the list or choose different package"

I need a solution

I have written a custom workflow that creates consumable and fixed catalog items. In this workflow I have numerous components I've written myself, and these components include the necessary delete and insert steps to ensure the proper table structure and relationships are maintained.

The workflow operates fine in debugger (due to heightened privileges). I have updated my connection strings for these custom components to use the SMP administrator account (the one used during installation) that subsequently has sysadmin rights to the database.

I am able to test the connection fine in the integration library, however, when I run my program it fails when trying to login with this system account and password. In a ditch effort I created a custom App Pool on the server and entered the SMP administrator account credentials into it. No luck, though, as I am still getting a login error.

Any ideas on how best to create custom workflow components that insert and update the SMP database?

I need a solution

I've been running SMP 7.1 SP2 MP1.1 for quite awhile now with no problems but this month I noticed that the accessibility of my Symantec Management Console is going down/up throughout the day; whether it be remotely or on the server itself.  Can't say exactly when it started although thinking it might've began after this month's Microsoft updates.  Also, while my SMC is inaccessible where IE just says "Connecting..." with no error message, I can get to http://{My_Altiris_Server_Name} which shows the IIS7 default webpage.  Actually, instead of refreshing my browser, one time I did let it sit for awhile where eventually that "Symantec Management Server Error" page came up.

This sure sounds like an IIS problem where I'd appreciate any tips you guys can give me on troubleshooting this intermitent issue.  Oh...not sure if this is related but I've also noticed that the "Shell Hardware Detection" and "Software Protection" services seem to be automatically bouncing throughout the day.  Is anyone else still running 7.1 like myself experiencing this problem as well?

Task Agents unable to register with Task Server with Alternative Subject name

I have an issue where clients are unable to register with a task server . 

The Server's host name is "Server123.domain.com

The SSL cert was issued as SMP75.domain.com

On initial install the SIM would not take a Subject Name Alternative SSL cert, so I had to use the self-signed cert, then change the bindings in IIS to use the SSL cert.

When I push an agent to the client, I specify the alternative URL of smp75.domain.com, the agent is able to talk to the SMP and obtain the initial guid.

When the agent tries to register with a Site server, it attempts as "server123.domain.com" and fails.

I manually tried to register the client with the Subject Alternative name and the follow message is displayed.

For a single machine, it is showing 2-3 NIC cards, what are all those data's.

Physically that particular machine is having only one NIC card.

Can anyone tell me which will be ACTIVE NIC card??

[Service Desk 7.5] No Date Period Option in Graphic Reports

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to redo some graphic reports from SD 7.1 on SD 7.5. However, can't seem to find this field in 7.5:

This option is missing in SD 7.5

Does anybody know if this option is still available on Service Desk 7.5? Or somebody has a workaround to get this field?

So we want to have another url as our servicedesk portal page.  We have setup DNS so the servername.domain.com and newurl.domain.com point to the same ip.  We want the newurl.domain.com to point to servername.domain.com/processmanager.  I have tried both URL Rewrite and Http Redirect in IIS and nether are working.  Whenever I go to newurl.domain.com it goes directly to the IIS Default page.  I have performed an IISreset after each thing was done and it still doesnt work.  Any suggestions? Below is the things I have tried so far and neither are working:

SMP Logs filling up with 'GetClientTaskServers' errors

Morning,

I am seeing a constant feed of Warnings detaling the following:

The handler 'GetClientTaskServers' is failed to process request. Called by unknown endpoint '54ade2fc-e25e-4206-ab6b-d920aabfbb6f'.

I found the resource associated to the GUID which was an unmanaged XP system which no longer exists on our domain and deleted it from the filter "All computers with no SM agent", but it continues.

We are running SMP 7.5 SP1 with the latest Hotfix on Server 2008 R2 SP1.

Patching Google Chrome via Altiris

Does anyone have experience in patching Google Chrome via PMS 7.1 or 7.5 in enterprise environment?

There is versioning issue, making patch management complicated. 

We have enabled latest, which is CHROME-119

From SW Inventory we can see there are many versions like 65.* or 66.* as well, which Patch Assessment does not evaluate:

Issue seems to be caused by MSI installer, as explained in this article, for instance (more articles can be found).

Google Chrome offers an MSI installer useful for enterprise deployments. However, I have noticed that when I install Chrome using this MSI there is a version number mismatch.

If I open Chrome and click on "About Google Chrome" from the menu, it says version 35.0.1916.153.

However, if I open Control Panel and pull up my program list, it says Google Chrome version 65.223.153.

Based on that fact, there are version discrepancies between ARP and PMS reports.

We discovered that these 65+ versions are coming from Chrome Enterprise edition, most likely.

Since we must be very accurate in assessing and patching exact versions of Chrome, I wonder to know if any workarounds exist.


Agent CA and Server CA SSL certs are missing (required for CEM, created during SMP install with SIM)

I need a solution

Working on setting up CEM and I (freshly walking into the issue), am noticing that the Agent CA and Server CA SSL certificates are missing in the Trusted Root Certificate Authority of the local computer on the Notification Server. The install was completed in June/July of 2014.

A repair of the specific product, Symantec Management Platform, did not recreate the SSL certificates. I know you can look in regedit at HKLM\Software\Altiris\eXpress\Notification Server\CA and see the thumbprint of the SSL certificates, just to validate that the Agent CA/Server CA was in fact created. There are thumbprints there. Which leads me to believe that the SSL certificates did exist at one time, but were removed (not sure how).

Where I stand right now;

-Unable to add the "Symantec Agent" IIS page using the console, the page is unresponsive, or pretends to add the Symantec Agent IIS site for CEM, but it is unresponsive

-Unable to locate/recreate the Agent CA/Server CA SSL certificates

Right now, I am attempting to recreate the Agent CA/Server CA SSL certificates in my lab, but I wanted to also get the question out on connect and see if anyone else has crossed this bridge before.

This shows me that is detecting the driver as DEV_153B...I've downloaded the driver from HP and in the driver INF it has a section for DEV_153B however if I try to import this driver into the driver DB it tells me that the driver already exists.  So I went and looked at the drivers.manifest.txt for the driver it is telling me is already there.  This has a device list in it but has DEV_153A but not DEV_153B.  How do we work around this?

I have a doubt about the LDAP generator, it is the first time I use it and wanted to know if anyone could help me understand a little better since I read about it, but the problem I have is I want to bring me the data that has the Active directory but still do not find all the variables that should be, for example I want to bring me the name, position, department etc. and I've only found the phone and name, could someone tell me where I can find the other data?

Sites and Subnets how does it behave?

I need a solution

I am already familiar with the overall way sites and subnets behave with site servers, but have what I hope is a basic question.

If I have a site with a more broad subnet such as 10.200.0.0/16 that has 1 site server that I want to be a main location

then a second site with a site server set as 10.200.54.0/24 that has a different site server.  So essentially

SITE A  10.200.0.0/16  Site Server A (package)

SITE B   10.200.52.0/24  Site Server B (package)

Would site B be excluded from site A since it has its own defined site and only use Site Server B for gettting packages, or would it also get them from A possibly?  I want to make sure it will only go back to A if there is not a site specifically called out for a location.  I'm hoping it works this way, otherwise I have to create some 200 sites that would be encompassed by a more high level range but dont have site servers just to make sure they don't go back to the main location vs the 6 sites that will have their own.
