DS 6.9 SP6 LinuxPE can't mount NFS

I need a solution

I haven't been able to mount an NFS share in the linux automation kernel that came with DS 6.9 SP6 (2.6.32-358). I get the error: "unknown filesystem type 'nfs'" (I was able to mount NFS in the previous version.)

I can mount SMB but would like to do NFS and it brings down an image much faster.

Has anyone run into this or been able to find a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Disabling SEP using smc command

Hi,

I need help. We have 250 SEP client installed and whenever we want to troubleshoot something that we think this AV is  preventing us to run, we usually use smc -stop ans smc -start to stop and start the service. I use the eicar AV test to test if the SEP is already stopped, but it still quarantines the test file. BTW, the "disable the Symantec Endpoint protection" option is already greyed-out.

What is the best way to disable the SEP client? for troubleshooting purposes. We dont want to uninstall then install it just for the sake of testing an application.

How To Find Installed Language Packs on Operating Systerms in Altiris Reports

Hello,

Am trying to FInd out the Installed Language Packs on an Operating System, Its not the Primary Language but the additional UI Languages which are installed on the desktops.

Is there any report available in Altiris or Can we get this information readily available in the Database??

We are on Altiris 7.6

Help on NS 7.5 Custom report

Hi All,

I tried importing the software metering report mentioned in the below link on NS 7.5 and it works perfect for me.

I would like to have "Computers With Software Installed" report for all metered software without dropdown. It would be nice if you could provide the sql query where we can see all the metered software usage in a single page rather than selecting them from dropdown.

I have sql query which list out all managed products in ITMS, but we need help in adding couple of columns to existing report such as metering and license information.

The column needs to have information like software metered (True/False) and licensed (True/False).

Writing to Excel or Word preformatted sheet

New to Workflow and........

We have a build sheet that or Deskside technicians use when deploying a computer, we are trying to automate this as much as possible and have created a workflow that uses a web form asking for technician name, end user logon name, the asset tag of the old and new computer, the cost center and so on.

What we are having an issue with is trying to figure out how to get the data that is put into the workflow and output to the excel or word preformatted sheet in the proper places. At the current time the sheet is in work format but if it is easier to write to excel we can create and excel sheet that looks identical to the current build sheet that is in word format.

We have created a few workflows that email specific users for certain things and with email it is a matter of putting variables into the places you want information placed but for excel this dosent seem to be that easy and straight forward.

Slow execution of Windows updates

Hi all, I’m having an issue with patch deployment. We’ve just upgraded to Symantec Management 8.0, but the same issue was occurring on 7.5. The two images below are the RAAD SWD Execution logs for a couple of Windows 7 machines that I deployed updates to. The highlighted areas show gaps of approximately one hour between installations of single patches. I know that when I use the basic Windows Update from the control panel I’ve seen it install over a hundred of these updates in around an hour.

 

This issue is consistent over a variety of machine types, the only obvious thing they have in common is Windows 7.

 

Any ideas about why there are long delays between installations of individual updates?

If PXE Boot Fails, It does not exit - It hangs

I need a solution

This is more of a general question about PXE Boot for the community. We have a few computers that do not exit on their own out of PXE boot if they don't have a job. They hang at "PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.". The only way to exit out of the screen, is to use "ALT+CTRL+DEL". I'm just curious if others if experienced the same thing and if using automation folders on computers that are having an issue with PXE, would be a fair option? We'd like to use PXE where we can.

I need a solution

Our business want's a report showing all applications and version installed on all our servers. I tried running a cube for installed software but it failing to show a lot of software. it seems show the basic such was windows office, jave, etc but things like Mentor Graphics, CAD systems etc it fails to add the details to the report. The issue I have is we have such a lot of software for various different engineering teams it would take me amonth to get the information manually.

Can anyone suggest the best way to create report for this?

I need a solution

Dear,

I try to do a custom install on a Windows Serverr 2012 R2 (until now for Testing-Purposes only, thank God!)

Installed SQL Express (with named Instance "GSS"), Management Studio, SPs and Updates für SQL prior to GSS-Installation to put the SQL-Instances-Path to antother Drive (Server-HDD has C: for System and D: for Data, SQL-Instances-Path is D:\SQL-Inszanzen (German)).

After Installing SQL I start GSS-Setup and chose "Custom".
- Ghost File-Server-Path: D:\GSS
- GSS-Server on zhis Computer
- Install-Path (again) D:\GSS
- SQL-Server ist found, Database-Name changed to GSS
- Windows NT Authorization
- PXE-Server on this Computer, Path D:\GSS
- Direct Connection from Client to GSS via IP
- Console on this Computer
- Klick on "Install"

And then in happens: "UpgradeUtility.exe" crashes and the Installation does not start.
I can reproduce this many Times. What is it? Any Ideas?

ONE Time with in my Opinion exactly the same setting it worked and GSS installed, but that Test-Installation is broken due to "too much testing", so I have to do an new Installation.

Windows Update not showing most recent installs

I need a solution

One of my system engineers noticed that after patches were applied through CMS the Windows Update applet did not reflect yesterdays date to the right of "Updates were installed: ". Could anyone explain why this happens? I'm assuming it has to do with how CMS installs the patches, I'm just not sure what it's using(or not using) that causes that section to not update.

We using DS 7.6 and trying to deploy image on HP 840G3 model machine which having default 3 partitions and trying to deploy image but it fails and giving error of boot mgr missing or boot selection failed

PXE-Boot: GSS 2.5 with PC-Dos vs GSS 3.1 with WinPE

Dear,

having worked with GSS 2.5 and PXE-Boot of PC-Dos for many years, I actually test GSS 3.1 in proparation of an Windows 10 Rollout.

What I see is that PC-Dos-Boot took "a few seconds" while the WinPE-Boot tooks "a lot of minutes".
And I´m only testing GSS with one Client, what happens during a Rollout of about 230 PCs that have to be booted nearly contemporaneous?

What are other Upgraders tinking / doing about this Question?

My next Task is to rollout my Win10-Image to the above mentioned 230 PCs (now Windows 7) and afterwords restore the Windows-Configuration (PC-Name, IP-Config, Domain-Join, etc.) For the second Point (restoring) I need GSS 3.1 because GSS 2.5 can´t handle Windows 10, but I could roll out my Image with GSS 2.5 and fast PC-Dos-PXE-Boot. Why isn´t that a good idea?

We sent a job to install automation partition to a Windows10 client.  Job states it finished successfully, however client will not boot into Automation Partition - it boots into the production environment.

 

Does our version support Windows 10 clients?
